“Come Unto Me”
In the scriptures, Jesus pointed to Himself as the good Shepherd bidding His flock to follow Him with the sweet gentle word, “Come.” The gospel of the Kingdom of God cries out to every sinner – “Come.”
From the first moment of our sin consciousness until we are ushered into eternity, the language of Christ is to “Come, come unto me.” As a mother puts out her finger to her little child and woos it to walk by saying, “Come,” even so does Jesus bid us to come unto Him. All through life He bids us to “Come.” And even while in the solemn hour of death, His sweet words with which he shall usher us into the heavenly world shall be–“Come, ye blessed of my Father.”
This is not only Christ’s cry to us, but, if we are saved, this is our cry to Christ –“Come! Come!” We will be longing for his second advent; we will be saying, “Come quickly, even so come Lord Jesus.” We will be yearning for a nearer and closer communion with Him. As His voice to us says “Come,” our response to Him will be, “Come, Lord, and abide with us. Come, and occupy our hearts; have sovereignty over our lives and consecrate us entirely to thee. Come.”
Today’s Word
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” ~ Matthew 11:28-32
Today’s Prayer
Oh Father God in Heaven; in the name of Your Son and my LORD YeHoWsHua* (Jesus) the Christ I pray to you today. I pray that You would forgive me for ignoring Your voice and refusing to come to you when you called. Please pardon my defiance and forgive my rebellious spirit. I repent of my old nature and seek to answer Your call. I am tired of this world and its wickedness. Help me Oh God to hear and obey Your voice. Help me to let go of the heavy labor and weights of this world and put on the easy yoke and light burdens of Christ. I want rest for my soul. Hear my cry Oh God. I want to abide in You and I want You to abide in me in the name of YeHoWsHua Ha-Mashiach* (Jesus the Christ) I Pray, Amen.
Footnote: *The Hebrew spelling of the name of Christ is used in this prayer for educational purposes. Yehowshua is often shorten to Yeshua but out of respect for my Lord I chose to use the spelling of His proper name to demonstrate that His name s above every name and that even the spelling of His name is relative to the spelling of The Father’s name – remembering that there were not any vowels in the Hebrew alphabets. Thus, YHWH (Yahweh) and YeHoWsHua (Yahweh is salvation) are grammatically and uniquely related.
