Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? Or what harmony has Christ with Satan, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, “I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE. “Therefore, COME OUT FROM THEIR MIDST AND BE SEPARATE,” says the Lord. “AND DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN; And I will welcome you. “And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,” Says the Lord Almighty. ~ 2 Corinthians 6:14-18
There is something different and precious about God’s sons and daughter that translates into us being separated from the world and its Prince and all of his evils.
Because of this, some may call us peculiar. And so we are. (1 Peter 2:9)
The Holy Scriptures affirms that “Friendship with the world is hatred toward God.” (James 4:4)
And because we love the Lord, we seek to obey His commandment to come out from among the wicked, ungodly, unclean and sexually immoral.
It is said that “Birds of a feather flock together.” And it is also said that “Association brings about assimilation.”
These saying mean that people of like minds and desires are usually found together and that if you associate with evil you will eventually imitate evil and become evil yourself. Thus the stern command from the LORD.
“Therefore, COME OUT FROM THEIR MIDST AND BE SEPARATE,” says the Lord. “AND DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN.”
God also indicates that those of us who obey His Command and separate ourselves from sin and Satan would be welcomed by Him and be called His sons and daughters.
We may be in the world but we are not of the world. We were born of the water and of the Spirit into the kingdom of God and we are no longer citizens of the world but children of God. We have nothing in common with Satan or his world. And, if in deed we are born again, God forbid that we should dare grieve The Holy Spirit that was made to tabernacle in us by partnering or joining ourselves with the world. (1 John 4:13, Ephesians 4:30)
AMEN.
