It is my experience that Christians, specifically “church Christians,” tend to only be financially responsible for and attentive to and concerned about the “Christian members” of their own congregations that are in good financial standing.
I have known Christian Churches to actually charge a significant fee to their own poor bereaved church members for the privilege of having their deceased loved ones – another church member – funeralized in their church and interned in the church-owned cemetery. It is all financially motivated and predicated on the church’s opinion as to whether or not the deceased member paid regular tithes and offering to their Christian institution or church.
This practice and/or policy is reprehensible and doesn’t have any validation or authority in HOLY SCRIPTURE.
Saints of YHVH are called and commanded to give financial aid and/or assistance to All Saints of GOD regardless of where they may worship or in what city, State or house they may worship in without regards for any payment history or taxation record of tithes and offering. We are governed as One Body by the HOLY SPIRIT with equal concern for one another. (1 Corinthians 12:25)
The connective tissue that binds all Saints is our obedience to God’s Command to believe the Gospel of CHRIST, REPENT and be washed in the Blood of the MESSIAH by BAPTISM in HIS HOLY NAME and be gifted by FATHER YHVH with THE HOLY SPIRIT of promise – continuing in the teachings of THE MESSIAH AND HIS CHOSEN APOSTLES. (Acts 2:38-42)
The awesome gift GOD to us through Christ compels us through our grateful hearts to give to each other. We are called and commanded to love one another through giving to one another as needs arise and circumstance dictate without regard for Christian church affiliation or denominational membership or any such distinction and discrimination.
Acts 11:28-30 (NKJV)
Then one of them, named Agabus, stood up and showed by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine throughout all the world, which also happened in the days of Claudius Caesar. Then the disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren dwelling in Judea. This they also did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.1 Timothy 6:17-19 (NKJV)
Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.1 John 3:17-19 (NKJV)
But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.
2 Corinthians 8:1-5 (NKJV)
Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia: that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality. For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing, imploring us with much urgency that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God.1 Corinthians 16:1-4 (NKJV)
Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come. And when I come, whomever you approve by your letters I will send to bear your gift to Jerusalem. But if it is fitting that I go also, they will go with me.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (NKJV)
But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
