Have you noticed that there is an ever-increasing demand by Christian religious leaders to make their followers pay tithes to support their ministry? They use all type of tactics to shame folks into paying tithes. They make empty promises of “supernatural increase” or wealth and prosperity for those who tithe regularly into their ministry or into their churches. They use the Old Testament Law of Moses to browbeat unsuspecting believers into tithing into a manmade ministry. They use Malachi 3:8 to imply that those who don’t tithe rob God as if God need their tithes.
However, Malachi 3:8 has reference to the Levitical Priestly System that supported the priests of God who had no inheritance in the land.
I have known some churches to keep a record of who tithes and who doesn’t. However that system of temple (Tax) support was nailed to the cross in Christ Jesus and is no longer viable or approved by God for His ONE TRUE EKKLESIA (Church).
I have known churches and pastors to keep a record of who paid tithes and how much that they paid in order to speculate on a church member’s income. I have known churches to keep financial records on who paid tithes and who didn’t in order to discriminate between church members and segregate certain privileges and rights of members – honoring one more than the other.
Would God allow such a system in His One TRUE Ekklesia? Does this represent a God who loved the world so much that He gave? (He didn’t tithe but gave His only begotten Son to reconcile the world to Himself.)
If in deed we are born again, we don’t need to prove to anyone that we are givers. Giving is a part of who we are in Christ. It is our new nature in the HOLY SPIRIT.
However, there are many Christian organizations and institutions monitoring the tithing behavior of believers in their membership. They represent themselves as storehouses for the LORD. But God never called them storehouses nor sanctioned them to collect tithes on His behalf. (Matthew 7:21-23)
Tithing is a mandatory tribute commanded by Moses’ Law for the upkeep, care and support of the Temple and The Priests of FATHER YHVH. But who are the anointed Priests of YHVH today that keep All Of His Holy Commands and Observe All of His Holy Days as the Levitical Priest did.
God has done away with the temporary Laws of Moses and it tithing ordinances. Those who worship Him now must do so willingly and in Spirit and Truth.
God did not setup any “church” or man or religious organization or institution to collect tithes for Him. Tithing was a part of Moses’ law that was nailed to the cross. That is why we don’t find any New Testament Christians paying tithes. The New Testament Christian doesn’t give out of obligation or legal compulsion which is what a tithe is. The New Testament Christian gives out of Love for GOD and a desire to please God since God loves a cheerful giver.
However, there are many who prosper by keeping the Christian masses ignorant of this truth and burdened with the legalism of tithing. They have attached a negative stigma to anyone who doesn’t tithe into their pockets or who doesn’t tithe into their organization. But this is not from God little children. God has set us free from the Law of Moses and that includes tithing. (Colossian 2:14)
The Law of Moses was a temporary schoolmaster meant to lead us to Christ. But since Christ came, Moses’ Law has ended and so has tithing.
Although they cannot disprove this truth using the teachings of Christ and His Apostles, many aren’t willing to accept this truth.
Although many have tithed faithfully for years, they are no better off financially had they not tithed. The proverbial windows of heaven never poured them out a blessing that they didn’t have room enough to receive. And the few testimonials that exist about receiving financial blessings after tithing is just bait to trick someone else into tithing and keep the insanity going. (Remember that Satan gives blessings too.)
If tithing made people rich, there would be more rich people in some of these churches that preach tithing. And since God is no respecter of persons, everyone who ever tithed should be wealthy. But they are not.
Many folks have become dead to the TRUTH and cannot see the uselessness of a legalistic/compulsory tithe in a Grace relationship founded upon the promises of God. (Galatians 3)
Although they pay tithes, they remain in the same financial fix they were always in – with few exceptions – and cannot see the uselessness of their tithing efforts.
Although they pay tithes, they remain sickly and in poverty while the one to whom they tithe grow wealthy and rich.
Although they pay tithes, many folks are living in financial ruin while the one to whom they pay their tithes enjoys financial security and the best that the world has to offer.
Is anyone hearing what the Spirit is saying to the CHURCH?
Now I know that you can’t tell a man the truth if he will not hear the truth. But it is my prayer today that someone is listening and that someone hears the Truth for it is the TRUTH that will make you free and not bind you or burden you.
It also is my prayer that the FATHER (YHVH) uses this lesson to draw someone out of darkness into His marvelous Light and fill them with His Holy Spirit for where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Now don’t get it twisted!
I am not saying that we shouldn’t financially support the work of the Kingdom Ministry of Christ and those who labor faithfully in the TRUE Word and Doctrine of Christ. God commands us to do so.
However, He desires that we do so willingly and out of Love and gratitude for God and for Christ and not because we are taxed. God Loves A Cheerful Giver.
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
(2 Corinthians 9:7)

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!
“Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” ~ Matthew 5:18
We can preach hard, long and passionate on the Old Testament (Moses’) Law of tithing but in comparison we are silent when it comes to teaching on sexual purity, moral integrity and the absolute need for every believer to obey all Ten of God’s Eternal Commandments, especially the fourth commandment – the perpetual covenant sign/mark).
We tend to excuse and explain that commandment away but it never occurs to us to excuse and explain away the tradition of tithing.
Let it be known here and now that one is eternal and the other is temporary. One is written by the finger of God and the other by the hand of a man.
Discover the difference and learn the Truth about tithing in the Church of Jesus Christ.

Think back to a few months ago.
Mistletoe was everywhere, and all you wanted to do was love people and feed the world.
The holiday season inspires us to be more giving and loving. Some of us even promise ourselves to be more like our holiday selves all year long.
And then, sometime shortly after our New Year’s resolutions are forgotten, our volunteer work, and charitable contributions are reduced as life takes over.
Maybe you still give, but do you do it in the same way as you did in December? Are you as moved? Are you as compelled to help the helpless?
Adam from Man vs. Debt posed the following question: “Do you give to Panhandlers” and the comments (all 215 of them) were really interesting. Here are a few examples:
- “In the US, I don’t give money to panhandlers. I just assume many of them are going to use it on drink and quite honestly, I don’t want to encourage more of them to hang out on street corners asking for money. Because I can’t assess their true “need” situation, I’m not comfortable giving them cash.”
- If I have something to give – I give. I believe I’ve been blessed to be a blessing to others.
- I am a very giving person but when it comes to pan handlers, I am not so giving. Not to say I don’t help any pan handlers, I just am very leery when they approach me. I feel most of the time they are lying about why they need the money. It just doesn’t fly with me. I also think many choose to live that way.
This mini-mission is not a question, or a command, but an invitation to give freely.
Let go of your need to decide who deserves what. That’s not your job, or responsibility. It feels good to give without judgment. Give your spare change to panhandlers, or a cup of coffee, or a meal. Keep snack packs and bottled water in your car to distribute when you have the opportunity. Make sandwiches and give them away to people in need at a park in your community.
Reasons people don’t give
- They feel uncomfortable
- They think the money will be used for drugs
- They think people should help themselves
- They think someone else will help
- They are strapped financially
- They think they are supporting homelessness
Instead of thinking, analyzing and judging, give what you can. Remember that many people asking us for help may not be able to navigate government programs for assistance. Most people standing by the side the road, or under a bridge did not choose this lifestyle because they are too lazy to work. There are mental, physical and social issues that stand between them and the life we might think they should lead.
You are not considering whether or not to sign over your 401K, give your home away or sell your house and donate 1/2, so don’t put so much pressure on the decision. Remember, it’s an invitation. An invitation to brighten someone’s day, an invitation to judge less and give more.
If you give freely, you will not make someone an alcoholic, keep someone on the streets, or perpetuate homelessness. It may be a dollar to you, but be open to the possibility that you are giving one person hope with your contribution.
While I do give when I can, I don’t always carry extra to give away. I’ll be stocking up so I can always give freely. I’ve also created a business that will give freely. 50% of every sale, not profit, but every sale of my limited edition photography from One Million for Good will go to a good organization doing great things. You can nominate a charity that you support.
Do you give freely? Will you?
