A CRUMB FROM THE MASTER’S TABLE SPECIAL EDITION / “A Surefire Way To Show Forth God’s Love”
The world teaches us that we should work in order to store up for ourselves. This is logical and fiscally responsible. But listen at what the Bible says in Ephesians 4:27-28.
“And do not give the devil an opportunity. He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need.”
Acts 20:35 says something similar.
“In everything I have given you an example of how, by working hard like this, you must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Yeshua himself, ‘There is more happiness in giving than in receiving.’”
And in 1 Timothy 6:17-18 it says:
Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share,”
This is a radical change from the world’s doctrine of wealth. The world sometimes criticizes those who don’t have sufficiency and labels us as being a drain on society and the government. The world encourages and teaches us to worship and honor riches and the wealthy. The world pressures us to gather, store and display wealth as a symbol of power and success and to use wealth mainly for our own desires, luxuries and pleasures.
However, Romans 12:13 says that we should use our excess resources to “Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality to the poor and needy within the Body of Christ.” Please notice that God never said to delegate that responsibility to a church or institution. Giving to your religious organization (church) isn’t the same as giving to God. Giving is personal and God views it as such. You can see this plainly in Matthew 25:31-46.
1 John 3:17 says that any act of stinginess toward a saint of God is evidence that God’s love doesn’t abide in us. This applies also to our attitude toward any of God’s sent messengers or ministries that may ask us for financial help. Whether they are large or small, private or corporate; whether they are serving a congregation, teaching Word and Doctrine, Evangelizing or pastoring online, if they are genuinely operating in the calling and anointing of Christ, then they are divinely qualified to receive charitable donations and we are instructed to give to them cheerfully.
God’s Word says for us to work in order that we may have something to give – to share our wealth and riches with His born again saints who are in need or who may be in poverty. If in deed God‘s Love abides in us, giving is one surefire way to demonstrate God’s Love.
If you are able, think about Christ’s perspective for a minute. He left Heaven’s immeasurable wealth and unimaginable Glory to share in our poverty and he gave everything so that we may have eternity. (John 3:16, Philippians 2:7 and 1 John 4:11)
God is LOVE and love gives. When God wanted to show His love for us He Gave His most Precious Gift To Us That while We Were Yet Sinners Christ Died for Us! Now how can we, who owe him everything, refuse him anything?
If giving your money to a needy child of God is too hard for you to do, don’t be surprised if God finds it too difficult to share eternity with you.
