Valentine
It is our nature to want to be loved. Old and young folks alike desire affection and companionship. Regardless of how hard we have had it or how bitter life has made us or how tough and rough we pretend to be, we need love in our lives. That is just the way that God has made us.
To deny our need to be loved is to deny our inner most nature. And such denial causes us many physical, emotional, behavioral, and mental problems.
It is a natural desire to want someone to want you as much as you want them – to love you as much as you love them. God has made us in His image and therefore it stands to reason that God Is LOVE and that He desires to be loved by His creation (us).
I don’t think that any rational person would argue with this premise.
The question that many have tried to answer is “How do we genuinely love God?”
Well, there are two things that we must first admit to ourselves before going any further with this discussion.
First, we have to admit that we have been deceived by our sinful nature, our bodies and our lusts into thinking that true love exists in our physical sexual expressions and emotions.
Secondly, we have to admit that we don’t know how to love.
God has indicated in His Holy WORD by Revelation through His Holy Spirit that HE IS LOVE and He Is Spirit. Therefore Love is Spiritual not physical.
And, according to God’s Holy Word, to Love God we must first learn to Love one another, i.e. those of the household of Faith as opposed to those that belong to the world and to Satan. (1 John 4:20 and 1 John 2:15)
Now how do we love each other?
God answers that question for us plainly and directly.
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” (1 John 3:16)
“Love is patient, love is kind, love is not jealous, it does not boast, it does not become conceited, it does not behave dishonorably, it is not selfish, it does not become angry, it does not keep a record of wrongs, it does not rejoice at unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
Love is not “Valentine’s Day.”
Love is not 50 shades of gray.
You can’t fall in and out of love.
You can’t make love.
You can’t separate or divorce yourself from real love.
TRUE LOVE IS ETERNAL.
Learn to really love each other like God loves us and then we can truly say that we love GOD.
REPENT!!!
